HI,
Is anyone else getting this message . . .
Warning - while you were reading a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post.
. . . and the new reply is one you just wrote and tried to post?
Then, you back arrow twice and everything is fine. This has been happening to me for several posts.

It's been that way for me most of the times since they started this new forum. You can scroll down to the post under your "new" post that looks like it didn't go anywhere to verify that it wasn't somebody else beating you to the punch. (The forum software shows the thread along with the reply box.)
I usually don't worry about it unless it comes up and says ". . .
two
new replies . . . " That will usually be mine and somebody elses. I've even thought so hard about how to get my point across that I've had it come up a time or two and say ". . . FOUR new replies have been posted - get a move on and push the POST button."

If you go to your (profile), then to (Notifications and Email) on the left in the block you can change your settings for replys and notifications and that will not happen.
Just for your info........

Highlander,
The change I made didn't do it. I'll have to try again the next time I post.
Second thought . . . I'll close forum now and open again - maybe that is it.

Go to '
Profile
', then '
Look and layout preferences
' in block to the left. Then, in the list in lower part of page, check the box '
Don't warn on new replies made while posting
'. That will stop the messages you are seeing.

Gary (huuligan),
Thanks for posting this for me. I've been doing maintenance on my home computer systems today, and wasn't able to login to answer Fred's question until now. You got it right... Thanks!

I no longer get this message ... but ... after I post a 'reply',
> the first hit of the 'back arrow' moves me back to a
new
'reply' box
> the second hit of the 'back arrow' moves me back to the 'reply' I just posted
> the third hit of the 'back arrow' moves me back to the 'unread' list.
In my profile I have tried selecting and not selecting this item >>>
Return to topics after posting by default.
<<< there is no difference in results.
Are others doing this same 'back arrow' exercise? It isn't a big issue but if I can eliminate the multiple back arrow hits, it would be nice.

Fred,
That is how I've always done it (three back arrows). I have the button on my scroll wheel set to backspace though so it's very easy to just click the scroll wheel as opposed to using alt and back arrow.

Okay. So, I'm not alone.
I can live with that. I need the exercise anyway.
Thanks, Fred

Gary,
If you read the posts that are new since your last visit, and reply to one of the posts, then want to go back to the remaining "unread" posts, some people just hit the "Back" button on their browsers. I go back up, and click on the "
Show unread posts since last visit
" link again, and go straight back to the unread posts I haven't yet read. I guess it's all up to each members preference.

OK, I see. I've never done it that way. I always go to "Show unread posts since last visit", then open each topic I want to read in a new tab (right click, 'open in new tab'), then mark all as read on the original page (tab) and close it. Then I read, reply, etc. each topic in the new tabs, closing each of those tabs as I finish. If I want to return to new topics, like you, I click "Show unread posts since last visit" again in the last open tab. I like the 'new tab' feature in Firefox (and IE too) and use it a lot! Thanks Gary.

Sometimes I post a reply before I've read all of the posts in that particular thread. I need to go back back back to continue reading it (CRS...if I am directed to a new thread, shor nuf, I'd forget where I was...an' forget I hadn't finished reading the rest of the posts.)
