We are starting a style makeover of our new 04 35RLTG. It is in great condition but that fruity border has to go. I saw a thread about removing the border but it didn't quite answer our questions.

Has anyone removed the border and wood trim completely?
Is there glue underneath and can it be removed?
Will  the finish underneath be damaged?
Has anyone tried painting or covering the border with something else - we may have to do this if the finish would be damaged.
Can the inside wall finish be painted?

Thank you in advance

The wood battens are just brad nailed on.  Carefully use a flat tool such as a putty knife to get between the wall and the wood batten and pull it off.  The wall border itself is applied with a self adhesive glue and is VERY sticky.  Use a hair dryer to warm it up and then carefully pull it away from the wall.  Be cautious, if you get it too hot then the glue from the wall will also loosen and the wall covering could come loose.  If there is glue residue left try a baking soda w/water paste and gently scrub off the glue.

Thanks for the suggestion, the hair dryer worked well. The border came straight off with no residue underneath. We are busy installing glass mosaic tiles in it's place in the bathroom and kitchen.

Hi Doug

We have had our HH exactly one week and have been tearing into it from the first day. We are working on several projects at once and I will post some photos as soon as there is something to show. We made a good choice of RV because the basic quality shines through even though we are changing the appearance.

Regards

Really like the idea of the glass mosaic tiles in the kitchen and bath. Be sure to include some photos/instructions as to how you did these.

Sounds good, I have the same HH you have and will be looking forward to seeing
how your work is coming along.
I bet you are going to cost me money. LOL

I want to see the pictures of the blown tires and bent axles after they get the granite counter tops and marble floors installed.   grin

We have changed the TV for an LCD, the rocker recliners for some IKEA chairs you can pick up with one hand and even the dining chairs for some much lighter ones. The glass mosaic tiles are only 1/8" thick and the box weighed about 25 lbs. Our unit actually weighs a lot less than it did originally.
