Does your fridge light go off when door is closed?

Ever wonder about this? Could you be secretly draining battery life while dry camping? I took an electronic camera, set it for suppressed flash, set the 10 second delay timer, pressed the button, put it in the fridge, and shut the door. Voila! My light does go off. What a relief.

And for those of you that have a Dometic frig and the light stays on, the Low Ambient Switch will be in the on position and keeps the light on. This is Dometics way of 'making' the frig work when the surrounding ambient temps are low. Otherwise, the freezer starts to thaw a little.

I made a small test light with wires and a flashlight bulb, connected it to the switch, closed the door and the light went out.

Mine does that also. I'm thinking of spraying a little silicone in it.

I thought about that, and was going to check it out,but I couldn't get in and still close the door.
It's good to know that I will no longer need to worry about it....
I'll find something else to worry about now.

For a test you could screw a plug adapter into the bulb socket and plug an external light on a thin extension cord that would allow the door to close fully.
