That would be interesting but pretty hard to figure out, as it is different in every model. As an example. Installing a W/D in a unit where it is located in the front bedroom closet is going to place almost all that weight on the kingpin. If it is located further back toward the axles the increase on the kingpin will be less. Lots of variables...
Agreed that it is complicated to figure out the hitch weight increase for a given option. The option installed to the rear of the axles would decrease the hitch weight. The option weight installed forward of the axle would be split between the hitch and the axle at some percentage based on location. I was wondering if NuWa had done the calculations for this at some point. That would make it relatively easy to add to the spreadsheet.

Ed,
I haven't heard of Nuwa doing any type of king pin weight adjustments for added options... I could ask and see...

I think that would be a nightmare!
My trailer is fairly well loaded with options, but even so, it only came in at 800 lbs over the quoted weight. 20% of 800 lbs would be 160 lbs. assuming the options all were forward of the axle and had the same distribution.
All the stuff loaded in the basement will have almost as big an impact after the fact. The slide tray has a capacity of 400 lbs, so assuming that I don't have the slide tray overloaded
, I've got the equivalent of half of my options weight that is my responsibility. Ditto for the weight of all the stuff in the front closet and bedroom dresser drawers.
I'm probably at the upper end of the scale, but my pin weight is 3700 lbs. That 160 lbs of option weight is about 4% of my pin weight. If you can't handle that kind of variance, you just need to look at a bigger tow vehicle to make yourself comfortable.

The spreadsheet Excel files, have also now been copied over into the "Trailer Models" Category, and have been placed in the "Trailer Weight Sheet Library & 2008 Model Price/Weight Spreadsheet" Board. These downloadable files have been placed (and locked) at the top of all the topics in the Board area.
You can take a short-cut to the the files right here:

Gary,
Great solution. After Wes & Tonia's effort on all of our behalves, this is a great way for new members (& guests) to get access to this great tool.

I have mentioned the spreadsheet to others interested in NuWa. I came to find out that they could not download it unless they registered as a member to this forum. The download link was not even visible in the first post of this thread unless one logged in to the forum.
WHY? One of the aims of the spreadsheet is to pass on the price/weight information to people interested in buying a HitchHiker. Why make them jump through hoops to get this info?

Because that is the way the software works. Registering is hardly jumping through the hoops.

Ed,
Jeff is right. Anyone can look at the NuWa Owners Forum as a guest, and poke around. They will not be able to post a question however, until they register as a member (this has to do with the limitations of the Forum software). As you know... registering is free, so there really shouldn't be an issue with that.
It's my guess that if people are really interested in the weight/cost spreadsheet, simply spending a few seconds to register shouldn't be an issue for such a GREAT tool.
The reason the software is set up this way, is to prevent random people from posting SPAM or pornographic materials all the time on the Forum. We have still had a few individuals that have registered, and have still posted the unwanted material, but they have also left behind some identification information for tracking their internet connections, which I have given to the sysops of those internet services they have used to spread their trash.

If that is the way the software works, so be it. But, I was referring only to the ability to download the spreadsheet from the forum. I have mentioned the spreadsheet when someone has brought up buying an up-scale 5th-wheel. They are un-committed and I was trying to generate interest on their part in a HitchHiker product and how it would fit in with their needs. Since they are un-committed, they do not want to join a forum dedicated to NuWa until they get further along in their decision process.
Is there any problem with me downloading the latest spreadsheet and passing it on to any interested persons in other forums?

Ed,
Also remember that just because someone joins the forum doesn't mean they have to be active. We have a lot of members who have logged a lot of time reading the forum and have never made a post. Be sure to point that out to others when you talk up the forum and the spreadsheet.

I have a question about cost.
Do we add on to the MSRP the cost
of the Value Package and the Deluxe Package?

The Value Package is what they call a forced option and should be added to the Base cost. I believe the Deluxe Package is optional and if you don't want it (most do), then don't add it.

Shirley,
Bryan is right, the value package is a forced option... You will have to select it, the cost is not included in the MSRP of the trailer... Hope this answers your question...

To me, it is really stupid to have an optional package that is
MANDATORY
...
If the package is mandatory, just price it in the base price and list the items as standard.

Sure, the MSRP is lower, but it just annoys the customer when the salesman tells them the they are required to pay for an "
optional package
". Maybe they want everything included in the package and maybe they don't. They don't get a choice and is just another way to irritate the customer. Sure, it is a great idea to have packages, just don't label them as OPTIONS while saying you have to pay for it.
