We have a 2001 SnowVilla (snowbird) 32+2 Legend F/W
In our ongoing effort to make it our home, we are refurbishing the bathroom. We would like to remove the border which is about waist height and installed with an extremely immovable double- sided tape. I am quite experienced and handy, but I'm stumped! The stuff will NOT budge!
Any ideas ? Have tried heat and paint thinner - no luck.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks,
John S. embarrassed

Steam has been the best thing for getting off wallpaper but I don't think I'd want to do that on one of these fifth wheels I'm not sure the wall thickness is there for it.

Everything we've used to clear wallpaper I would not want in my fifth wheel bathroom.  They're either toxic in small spaces, or require you to score (make small cuts) in the wall paper so the remover can get behind the paper, or would add a lot of water into again a small space.

I think Roaddog has the best answer but you run the risk in a few years of having a boarder that goes from 6 inches above the floor to 6 inches below the ceiling.

Hi John. We too have a '01 SnowVilla and also removed some of that border. It is not like wall paper at all, it is a sticky backing  like a bumper sticker. We (read my DW) removed it by starting an edge then rolling the adhesive with your thumb pad. It's like removing double sided tape. It takes awhile but can be done. Clean the area with Goo Gone or similar product then wipe with rubbing alcohol to remove any residue.

Good Luck

Here's something you could try that might hasten the process. Go to HD and pick up a Zinser "Paper Tiger" (about $7) wallpaper scoring tool. Run it Lightly over the border you wish to remove, making sure you overlap each pass on the border. Next, place some Goo Gone on a rag and wipe it over the scored border (not necessary to saturate it, just dampen it) and let it stand a couple minutes, then working from the edge with a sharp edge broad knife or a 2" putty knife, begin lifting the border.  After you remove the border, just remove the adhesive residue w/ Goo Gone as recommended in the earlier post.

We were told my Lori Reinhart at NuWa that the border would be extremely difficult to remove because it is not wallpaper but more like "contact" paper and that it is installed very well.  We asked about putting a new border over the existing one and Lori said that while it might work, NuWa would not guarantee that it would hold.

You are better off leaving the old wallpaper on; you can put new wallpaper over top but you must use vinyl over vinyl paste I hung wallpaper for over 25 yrs

Our border is bordered with a wood strip on both sides. Wife just put the new over the old. A year later it's still intact and looks good----------------pieman
