Custom unit orders

Sorry for so many questions, but will NUWA put all laminate flooring throughout the unit instead of carpet? Next question, does anyone know the brand of laminate they use and how well it holds up to nicks/dents etc? I'm mainly concerned with dog claw marks.
What brand/model of stack washer and dryer does NUWA use, and can you run both at the same time? We currently have a Kenmore stack, which works wonderfully, but you can't operate the washer and dryer at the same time. It's also a top loader, I would prefer a front loader.
Can you get all wood lambrequins (however you spell that) around the windows instead of upholstered ones?

If there is one thing I have seen from NuWa, they can do about anything... For this question if Mike doesn't jump in, call and ask for Ed at the factory, he is a pleasure to talk to and he can answer these questions directly for you...

I can say that I would not worry about the laminate flooring. They are so much harder than regular wood flooring and resist doggy scratches. We have put it in our home and have two spaniels. No scratches at all. You only have to remember to clean up any water spills quickly to avoid buckeling.
Can't tell you about the washer dryers.. hope this helps you a little.

Good questions, which are on many minds. It is my desire to offer some models with more laminate flooring. Ours does fine with nicks and dents. It can scratch, but not by a doggie claw. And it can raise up or curl is water gets under it. From experience I too find this or linoleum desirable in the manner I RV. I would prefer throw rugs. Certain areas of the coach need carpet to "cover" or "wrap" some aspect of the "meeting of materials". So far we have found no other way to complete the flush floor glide without having carpet in the glide and having carpet for 18" beyond the glide. But I see no reason why laminate or lino cannot be place near full length of the "center of downstairs area of many units. I have concern about rear sofas or chairs and feel one needs carpet for them to "nestle" into during transit. Bottom line, I think NuWa can provide most rear living room type models with an optional laminate center area that runs toward the rear sofa or chairs or entertainment center. Will add cost for the laminate and I hope that linoleum can also be satisfactorily used. One concern for me about laminate is that if it gets wet underneath it wants to slightly curl at the edges. And linoleum wants to stretch. Maybe square tiles is worth further research. We have done some full laminate units at Custom in the past and I think we can do on other models in the future. NuWa is currently offering the Splendide brand of two piece washer and dryer. Same folks who make the "combo" model. I should know the answers to both of your washer questions but am afraid my answer will be wrong. Hopefully someone on line has the Spendide two piece now in use. I have to assume it is a front load as don't believe enough height exists for top load. I would like to think with 50 amp service both can be used at same time, but I may be fully aware of the electric load design, so don't accept this opinion as fact. For awareness, NuWa has two combo washers, with small scratches, one KenMore Stakpak model, and one two piece set, which we will install at reduced prices, if anyone visiting the factory is interested in saving some money on a washer dryer set. Okay I read the older thread. I'd be okay with carpet in the bedroom area, but you're saying with the model 37 CKRD for example, you could run the laminate down the center of the living area, but not only would the slide have to be carpeted, (I could live with that even) but 18 inches into the center of the room on each side? Leaving a 5' or so strip of laminate? That might look pretty funky.

Here's the
Specifications for the Splendide Stackables
. Looks like 15 amps each for a total of 30 amps to run washer and dryer at the same time. Add two air conditioners at the same time during the summer months and you'd be cutting it pretty close to maximum capacity for a 50 amp rig. Both units are front loaders.
Something else to consider is weight. Combined weight is 237 lbs. Combination models come in at 148 lbs total and are less than the washer by itself.
We prefer the combination unit for a couple of reasons. Weight. Put a load of wash in and you don't have to mess with it until it's done and ready to fold and put away. Storage space in the cabinet for soaps, softeners, hangars, etc. etc. We spend a lot of time in parks where we only have 30 amp hookups. So we would be limited to running only one unit at a time with the stackables anyways.

I agree, it would look weird. For that reason, I haven't met anybody that elected to have this done. The carpet in a CE is really nice. We just take off our shoes at the door, and we do that when we enter somebody else's rig too. Personally I would elect to get linoleum instead of laminate. We have laminate because my wife wanted it (after all, she is the boss and she gets what she wants). My objection is that if you have an unknown water leak and it get under the laminate, the floor is going to be ruined. People are getting the laminate replaced all the time. The other thing about laminate, it is in the kitchen, and you are going to have a throw mat in front of the sink, and probably in front of the fridge, and that covers up a good portion. That said, the laminate floor looks really nice.

30 amps for washer and dryer plus 30 amps for two air conditioners is a total of 60 amps. You would still have 40 amps left to run the rest of the trailer. Or am I missing something?

We had laminate in a house once when we were younger, and never had any problems with water getting on it, we had it in the bathrooms as well. Of course if something leaks...
We never wear shoes in our house or our RV, but we have a German Shepherd (and a mini schnauzer) that are both old and they travel with us. The schnauzer isn't a problem, but the big dog is a lot more work to keep her coat and paws clean so she doesn't mark the carpet up. The carpet in our current unit (4 years old, full-time use) still looks brand new, except all the binding is coming off the edges from being vacuumed too often.
As for a combo W/D, no way, not for us. Even with a full sized apartment stack like we have now, it runs pretty much nonstop. You can't wash an entire set of king sheets in one load, and we go through bath towels like crazy between us and keeping the dogs dry. Maybe we'll keep our current stack and put it in the new unit. But I'll go check out the specs that were posted, thanks for the link!

My wife just stripped our king bed and did {washed, but didn't dry} all the sheets pillow cases etc in one load. We have the Splendide 2100XC vented combo. Any of these little units will not dry sheets well due to the size of the drum. Wife hangs ours on a drying rack out doors. One has to remember that living in a 5th wheel no matter how big requires some adjustments and in some cases sacrifices.---------------------pieman

No Jeff you are correct, when you are using a 50 amp source it is actually two 50 amp circuits for a total of 100 amps.
I am sure that was a slip of the typing finger(s) from Greg.

You might be a candidate for using a laundromat. We have the 2100 XL Splendide (large capacity combo), we pretty much do one or two loads daily. We like it.

If you pull up the photos of the 38LKTG Champagne, in some of them you can see a laminate floor that goes all the way back into the living room. They will also give you an idea of how far out the rug comes and the molding they use around the edges.

Not really. Let me qualify my statement by saying it becomes an issue of load balancing. You are adding 15 amps to one of the 50 amp circuits. That's close to 30% increase in load on one leg even if it's a mere 15% increase in total loading. My concern would be in Nuwa's ability to anticipate the usage patterns of the end user who orders a fully loaded coach.
For example, they split the A/C units - one on each leg. 15 amps per leg used. Split the Washer/Dryer - another 15 amps per leg. Fireplace - 15 amps on one leg or the other - that's 45 amps on one 50 amp leg.
Now it starts to get dicey. On a cold morning, I would get up and light off the heat pumps and fireplace so it will be toasty when DW gets up. Turn on the coffe pot (7 amps) so she can have her coffee. DW gets up, starts the washer and dryer because we want to go sight-seeing today and need to get the laundry done early. Then she washes her hair and lights off the 10 amp hair dryer. Add unknowns for parasitic loads like the converter.
Heat pump (15 amps), Washer (15 amps), Fireplace (15 amps), Hair Dryer (10 amps) - OOPS!
or Heat pump (15 amps), Dryer (15 amps), Coffee pot (7 amps) Fireplace (15 amps) - OOPS!
Not a common situation, but entirely possible. And Nuwa gets the blame for not putting the elecitrical capacities in the right place.
Or, it's easier and cheaper to run a single line to the washer/dryer space and put both on one 50 amp leg. You've still got an A/C unit on that leg, so now you are at 45 amps.

You're right, there is a photo of the dining room shot that more or less shows that, and it doesn't look as bad as I thought! Thanks for pointing that out.

OK, I get it. We are probably never in that situation. No fireplace and no hair dryer. Oh, and for us, we have the combo unit. But I do now see your point and it is valid. The advantage of having a Progressive Industries EMS with remote read out is you can evaluate to see if you will go over 50 amps on either leg.
