Whooohooo! We are day 4 of our fulltiming adventure! We pulled into an SKP park in Heiskell, Tn today and we still have not been able to escape the subfreezing temps! We have not hooked up our water yet, didn't want to take the chance of anything going wrong in that department in this cold. (We had a broken pipe last year in TN in similar weather and it was brutal)We haven't seen a TV in a couple of months since we sold or gave away while downsizing...tonight was the first opportunity with hookups and our cable line was too short! Only once so far while traveling has a cupboard opened up, only casualty was a wineglass (darn)....We saw or first HH today, right here in the skp park, but didn't catch the plates where they were from. We absolutely LOVE the rig that we have...it is fabulous. It is only 4 days but it IS Home...we are so happy with our purchase!!!!! Called ahead to our next 3 campgrounds, all in Alabama and still freezing but will be int the 50's by late in the week, still can't believe it. Livingston, TX or BUST!

Glad to hear that your adventure has finally begun.  I saw on the weather report tonight that the sub-freezing temps are due to end on Thursday here in NJ.  It will be the first time this year that we will see temps in the 40's.  Sounds like it should hit you tomorrow.   cheesy   I know you'll be glad to finally get above freezing.

We are going to the skp Rainbow Plantaion in Summerdale...we know someone there from NY too so it will be fun to reconnect! Have only been doing overnighters anxious to get to TX. I will have to look up where Gulf Shores is....is it an RV park or a town? Sounds great, right on the Gulf? Do you like it there?

Let us know when you'll be at the Rainbow Plantation, we are less that 15 miles away and can meet you for lunch or dinner.  We are at Gulf Breeze RV Resort further south on Alabama 59.  It's all sunshine now and will be pushing 60 today and in the 60s the rest of the week but some rain is expected.  Rainbow Plantation is one of our favorite SKP parks.  Will you be here long?     Greg

Your comments are both entertaining and meaningful to readers.  May I have permission to post them on NuWa's website, so people can understand the excitement and agonies of fulltiming and buying a new trailer.   MIKE

Hi Greg,
We are almost there! We are in Fort Payne, AL tonight, Montgomery, tomorrow and Summerdale on Friday. Thanks so much for the invite, we are so close it would be a shame not to! I'll get in touch with you thru the PM. We are only doing overnighters til we get to TX so brunch/lunch on Saturday might be best for us! We would like to hear about the Hitchhiker Club! So glad there is finally a break in the weather...first day to hit 40's today and it is all feeling worth it!!

Hi MIKE,
SURE!  It certainly has been a whirlwind...the whole thing....Retirement, fulltiming decision, selling off everything you own, the "new home" buying decision and the fear factor of how will things be handled when things go wrong. The loyalty of the "owners" on this forum was very reassuring and the fact that sooo many folks(that don't know me) chimed in to help me during my slide crisis was over the top! Our dealer, Gary at Imperial responded immediately and courteously (twice, by the way)((the closet slide malfunctioned, thankfully, the very next day)).I just want to say, we liked it alot on the showroom floor, but we LOVE living in it. Hopefully, our travels may soon include a visit to the factory.

Hi rewolfs!  Texas is just sitting patiently there and waiting for you to arrive.  Sounds like you're off to an exciting start that'll make good stories and I know you're going to make many more!  Congrats for getting on the road in that super HitchHiker.

My congrats, too, to the new fulltimers.  BUT, there is very little about Texas that is patient, especially the way they drive down here.  Today, a truck cut in front of us and across 5 lanes of traffic to make an exit.  And that's just typical.  Think: NASCAR meets Tijuana Taxi!  Roll Eyes  It helps to be patient yourself when it comes to the Texas traffic.  Looks like the nasty cold stuff has moved on from here (mid-south Texas).

Travel safe and keep us posted!

Best wishes,
Jim B.

If you want the BEST weather in the continental US, come out here to Arizona.  It's been nice so far.

We've been here since 11/11/09 and are loving the weather.

We certainly want to spend some time there, but this first time out is TX then FL then back to check on the progress of selling the house. We iwill be out about 3 or 4 months before heading home.(I mean, what USED to be home!) Then we will get a much earlier start south and head to the southwest...would like to do Quartzite next January...we hear so much about it.

Hey Mrs. Redwolf, how's it going? Hope the start of your full-timing adventures are going well! How did setting up your residency in Texas go?

I'm sure you have made it to warmer weather by now - we on the other hand are anticipating a one day heat wave up to 46 degrees tomorrow before we head back down to the 20s for the rest of the week. Don't you miss it?? LOL

Hi there,
Well, we made it! It's official we're Texans...had our first real Mexican food at a Taqueria and drink Margaritas this evening! Got the license plates and driver's license to prove it. Weather has also greatly improved 60's and 70's past few days here in Livingston. Met some folks who also just started to FT from California, the invited us to watch a movie at their place and have desert...we've met LOTS of people and are generally loving the lifestyle. Everyone is friendly, and there is alot to do although I am enjoying "doing" nothing for awhile!
was planning to head to san antonio, then FL, then NC then home to NY to check on the sale of the house but might have to reroute due to a trailer issue...KS is so NOT on our itinerary(at this time) Will see after we talk to the factory tomorrow.
Anyway, having a good time! Redwolf and the Mrs.

Hi Mrs. redwolf.  I just caught up with your post and I think we were the FT'ers also at Raccoon Valley in Heiskell, TN.  We have a 33 CK RSB with Illinois plates.  Left the next day for Chattanooga.  Too bad we didn't get a chance to meet.  Congratulations on your FT status.  We have been out on the road for almost 3 years now.  Still not bored or sorry.  Enjoy!!
