Is it possible to show a caption or  description alongside each attached photo? I am tempted to give the photos a long winded file name so there is at least a simple description of what the photo is showing.

Thanks

Yes, just rename the photo before you upload.

Tony,

You can rename the picture file as Jeff has suggested, but if you have a LOT of pictures that you need to describe what's going on, may I suggest getting a Owners Forum "Gallery" account (your Forum login will not work on on the Gallery).  To see what the "Gallery" offers (yep... you can leave a LONG description for each picture if you wish), click on the "Gallery" button on the main menu (located to the Right of the "Home" button).  The Gallery is FREE to use as well, just follow the following information to have one of the Administrators set you up an account: What Do I Need To Do To Create A Gallery Account? <--- Click Here.

Once you have a Gallery account, you can Upload all the pictures you want into your account, edit each picture to describe what it is, then link your pictures in a Post on the Forum.

Hope this helps answer your question.  As far as being able to place labels on attached pictures within the Forum software, it can be done if you insert one picture at a time (Insert Image) into a post (but you'll need to have a web address where the picture is stored), place your label under the picture, then keep on adding pictures as necessary.  See below an example:

There you go... easy as pie!   Wink

Thanks Gary, it begs a few more questions.

If I use "Additional Options" to insert a photo does it mean that the only title is the actual file name?
I have my own website so could store the photos on line but if I use "Insert Image" does the same 6 image/750K limit apply?
If I use "Insert Image" and say my website is down, does it mean that the photos will no longer appear in my posting?
Are there any restrictions on size or number of photos if I use the Gallery?

Thanks

Tony,
If you use Insert Pictures you have to use a Web Based Picture Site, it can't be on your own computer.  If you use Additional Options like I do, it uses the file name of the picture.  I just copy the picture to a new folder and then rename the file.  Gary will have to answer the # and size of the files for Insert Pictures.  I haven't used insert pictures because we are on the road a lot and to upload pictures to a web based picture site is one additional thing I have to do at a snails pace.

Jeff

Yes, I assumed the caption had to be the file name for "Additional options" so that is not a very good descriptive caption even if I change the file name. As I said earlier, I have my own website which gives a place to store photos online so I could use "Insert Image" but if that means the photos disappear from a posting if my website goes down then that is not very good either. I may have to open a gallery but I really like to keep photos next to any discussion instead of having to click on links to see them.

The reason for my questions is that I want to start posting a description and photos of the makeover of our 04 35RLTG and I was hoping to keep all the photos in one discussion thread.

Each post will be limited to a limited number of photos, so giving titles and descriptions in the body of the copy has always worked well with members.  With many pictures...or even several, a new post is created and descriptions written for more pics.

Yes... that is correct.  Only the file name will be visible on the attached pictures.  You can however in your post, put a description of the "below" attached picture #1, picture #2, etc.

I haven't looked into this, but I have seen people inserting pictures that are larger than the 750KB upload limit size.  I really refrain telling our members to go ahead and insert several 8 meg picture links, as this is not necessary.  All pictures should be re-sized to a normal and standard viewing size (6 X 4 or 8 X 5 inches).

That is correct.  If the link sight is not available (the web site is down), then there will be no link for the inserted picture as well.

Are there any restrictions on size or number of photos if I use the Gallery?

No.  And best of all... it's FREE!   grin  I would advise resizing all uploaded pictures onto the Gallery as well though, as there is no reason to be posting 8 meg or 12 meg pictures straight from your digital cameras.  The picture quality will not be any better, and in some cases, the Gallery software will actually re-size of these pictures (48 inches wide X 60 inches tall as uploaded) to a more normal 800 X 500 pixel size for viewing.  One other advantage to using the Owners Forum Gallery, is that you can make as many sub-albums as you need to separate and group your photos (example: specific camping parks, different visited states, etc..).

Hope this helps... sorry for the delay with getting back to you.  I was out enjoying some Winter Camping.   Wink
