Fireplace Damage

The wood frame at the top of the fireplace was being cooked by the electric heater in the fireplace. I put some heat reflective tape on it to prevent further damage.

I've removed the frame around the fireplace and pulled the fireplace out of the cabinet. Note the charred wood along the top of the picture. The knob is the pull-out for the shelf that the television sits on.

This view is laying on my back looking upwards inside the fireplace enclosure. Not only does the finished cherry wood show evidence of charring, but also the unfinished brace as well.

This is the aluminized tape that RV gave me to install on the charred areas. It is sticky on one side and shiny aluminum on the other side. Sticks real well.

This is the fireplace frame laying face down on the white carpet. The charred area shown here matches the area in the first two pictures when the frame is installed.

I've applied the tape to the cabinet edge to protect the wood from further damage.
